🛠️ A Simple Tool to Choose Your AWS S3 Storage Class!
Hi there,
"Release early, release often" is a mantra we embrace, and today, I’m thrilled to share something new with you!
Ever wondered which AWS S3 Storage Class is the best fit for your data? I’ve built a free and simple tool to help you figure it out: the AWS S3 Selector. It’s designed to make cloud decisions easier and save you time.

Try it out and share your thoughts! Feedback is key to making it even better for your needs.
🤯 350 Trillion Objects and Counting
AWS S3 launched back in 2006, and today it holds over 350 trillion objects. That’s a lot of data—if you downloaded one object every second, it would take 11 million years!

🧹 Organize Your Data, Save on Costs!
Imagine organizing your closet: you keep everyday items handy, seasonal stuff up high, and rarely-used items tucked away. AWS S3 can do the same for your data with lifecycle policies—and here’s the kicker: it saves you money too.
With lifecycle policies, you can set rules like “Move older files to cheaper storage after 30 days.” For instance, a business with years of customer records could keep recent files easily accessible while archiving older ones automatically. It’s like tidying up your closet and cutting costs at the same time!

📖 Learn more about lifecycle policies in the AWS S3 documentation.
🌐 AWS S3 is not unlimited. Wait, what?!
While the storage size is unlimited, there are limits. For example, in naming. A bucket name can be between 3 and 63 characters long and can contain only lowercase characters, numbers, periods, and dashes.
Example:
most-epic-s3-bucket-name-to-fit-exactly-63-characters-in-length.s3-website
Since bucket names are globally unique, I've already taken this epic name, so you’ll need to choose another one for your awesome bucket. :)

You can also use S3 buckets for static website hosting. Check this out!
😀 Especially on Fridays.

Got questions or feedback? I’d love to hear from you. Don’t forget to explore the AWS S3 Selector Tool, your cloud costs and storage decisions just got a whole lot easier. See you next time!
